Dave Groce (Piercer)

Dave comes to us a few times a year from Lebanon, PA. He started piercing part time back in 2000, but only counts the last 3.5 years as his career. He has been working full time out of a shop called Yi Shen Jing in Lebanon, PA. Dave is proud to say that his shop is the only shop in the area that cares enough to follow the guidelines established by the APP.

He loves coming to Philly and picking up new tricks and expanding his abilities, but enjoys having a yard to come home to. The best thing about piercing is the ability to exchange energy with another individual in a very personal manner. “While most people see it as ornamentation, there is a much bigger thing going on in the background. If you open your eyes to it, it can allow you to learn a new side of yourself.”

Larry Spano (Tattoo Artist)

Larry owe's the majority of his artistic background and skills to his mother Donna Friend. She has a degree in illustration from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. “From day one, she made every effort in surrounding me with creativity and has made me use it in daily life.” Larry attended Kent State University where he majored in graphic design. While attending, he became an advertising designer for the Kent Stater – one of the top student newspapers in the country.

“I’ve been a Body Graphics employee for a little over a year. Prior to coming to philadelphia, I had an apprenticeship at Artbomb Tattoo in Canton, OH where I was taken under the wings of the world famous Richard Helton and TJ Heaton. I take alot of inspiration from classic artists such as: DiVinci, Michelangelo, and Rembrandt, as well as some surrealists such as Dali and Rene Magritte. To name a few more: Marcel Duchamp, Alfonse Mucha and Andy Warhol.”

“Point of the story is that I feed on art. I’m also an expert button-hook pattern super slo-mo – challenge me, I dare you!!”
